DON NICETO ZAMORA DEAD
former president of SPANISH REPUBLIC 4Rec. 7 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES, February 19. Don Niceto Alcala Zamora, father of the Spanish Republic and its first President, died at Buenos Aires during Friday night. Mr Zamora, who was 71. was President of Spain immediately before the rise to power of General Franco. He had lived since as a political exile in Argentina.
Indian Communists Arrested.—About 300 persons have been arrested in what appears to be a drive throughout India against Communists. Most of •hose held are associated with certain railway unions which called for a strike on March 9 in defiance of a decision of ihe All-India Railwaymen’s Federation.—Bombay, February 19.
