NAVAL OFFICERS’ TOURNAMENT A golf tournament was held by the Christchurch Naval Officers’ Association at the Rawhiti Club’s links on Saturday. Best scores in the morning round were: B. Cookson 68, R. Gowan 70, I. Davis 70, B. Nicholas 71. A bogey match, played in the afternoon, was won by R. Queree and A. Foubister. J. Stringlan wdn the president’s trophy for the best aggregate. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB The first round of the Godby trophy was played at Shirley on Saturday. Scores:—W. A. Caldwell and D. W. Russell, all square; J. Rennie beat L. W. Fleetwood, 2 and 1; H. R. Rendall beat F. W. Seldon, 2 and 1; G. R. P. Beadel beat K. J. McMenamin 7 and 5; W. D. Wood beat N. A. Burn by default; M. W. Simes beat G. H. Owen, 2 and 1; W. H. Cleland b6at J. N. AVONDALE CLUB The following were the winners of flight matches played at Avondale during the week-end:—Stroke handicap: L. H.Brown, 90, 21—69; E. J. Paton. 91, 22—69. Bogey handicap: A. E. Ison. 1 down; E. A. Cleland, one down. Stableford bogey: J. Mitchell, 37 points. Fourball bogey: A. B. Cookson and A. Brunt, 9 up. WAITIKIRI . CLUB A stroke handicap played at Waitikiri yesterday morning was won by T. Quirk, 89. 22—67. Other good scores were: W. Clarke, 92, 24—68; S. Andrews, 90, 18— 72; V. Stokes. 88. 46—72; J. O’Gorman, 86, 12—74; K.. McDonald. 87, 13—74. Best scores in a fourball best-ball bogey played in the afternoon were: T. Morrow and S. Hadley, 5 up; J. Williamson and N. Oates, 4 up; E. Wilkinson and T. Arnold, 3 up; J. Scott and M. Ewing, 1 up. HAGLEY CLUB Best scores in a stroke competition played at Hagley on Saturday, as the first round of the summer competition, were:— W. A.
