FAIRHURST WINS N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP

(P.A.) PALMERSTON N., February 20. With a spectacular display of riding, Harold Fairhurst (Auckland) scored the possible 15 points to claim the New Zealand speedway championship at Palmerston North on Saturday night. Fairhurst had five wins in five starts to narrowly beat Gil Craven (England), who scored 14 points. In third place was Bruce Abernethy (WeUington) with 13 points. The best time of the championships was made by the Craven brothers, both of whom covered the course in Imin 15 2-ssec, which is l-ssec behind the record.
