CONSERVATIVES’ POLICY
BROADCAST BY MR R. A. BUTLER INDUSTRIES, RATIONING, ECONOMIES (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19. The Conservatives, if returned to power, would decentralise the control of national boards for nationalised Industries. abandon the iron and steel nationalisation project, andrestoie as much of road transport as possible to the private enterprise system, giving every capable worker an opportunity to advance and share in the result of
his work, said Mr R. A. Butler, Conservative member of the House of Commons for Saffron Walden, in a broadcast. He said the Conservatives would not remove rationing from any particular item until there was enough to go round. They would see that pensioners and all in need or ill health received their benefits. They would fight Government waste and extravagance and use the savings for taxation relief. Mr Butler said the Socialists had not shown the leadership necessary to mobilise the Empires strength and resources.
