HEADQUARTERS OF UNIFORCE—FIVE ARMIES IN ONE.—In the woods outside Fontainebleau, 30 miles from Paris, is the Chateau Fougeres (shown above), the headquarters of Field-Marshal Montgomery, military head of the Western Union Defence Council. Fantastically shaped, the chateau contains 20 rooms and has two uneven towers. In the entrance hall hangs a sign:—-“This building has been given to us free of rent. Please treat it with care and consideration for the kind owner.”
