J. Dedman) in the House of Representatives to-day. 'There is no control over manpower at present,” he added. “It could be an entirely different matter if war broke out or became immediately imminent." , * The manpower intake into the Australian Navy was satisfactory because the Commonwealth was receiving 1100 men from England. Three hundred had . already arrived in the transport Kammbla and 800 would come in the aircraft-carrier Sydney in May. Attempts were also being made to recruit ground staff for the R.A.A.F. in the United Kingdom. There had been a large number of inquiries and some enlistments.
