SIX SCHOOLS IN CHRISTCHURCH

MANAGEMENT BOARDS ESTABLISHED MEMBERSHIP DEFINED BY NEW REGULATIONS From Our Own Reporter WELLINGTON. February 17. Regulations governing the management of six Christchurch secondary schools were brought into effect by a Gazette notice to-day. The regulations are entitled the Christchurch Post-Primary Schools’ Boards of Managers Regulations. 1949, and apply to the following schools: the Christchurch Boys’ High School, the Christchurch Girls’ High School, the Avonside Girls’ High School, the Christchurch West High School, the Christchurch Technical College, and the Papanui Technical College. The regulations establish boards of management for the six schools. The board of the Christchurch Boys’ High School, the Christchurch Girls’ High School, the Avonside Girls’ High School, and the Christchurch West High School will consist of one manager appointed by the Government, one manager appointed by .the Canterbury Education Board, two managers appointed by the Canterbury University College Council, two managers appointed by the Old Pupils’ Association, and three managers elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school,.including at least one woman in the case of the two girls’ schools and the Christchurch West High School. . boa L d m of man agers of the Christchurch Technical College will consist of one manager appointed by the Canterbury Education Board one manager appointed by the Christchurch City Council, one manager appointed by the Canterbury Universitv College Council, three managers elected by the parents of pupils attending the school one being a woman, one manager elected by the councils of Lyttelton. Waimairi, Halswell, and Paparua. one manager appointed by the Old Pupils’ Association, three managers elected by the associations of employers in local industries, and three managers elected by the associations of employees m local industries. The Papanui Technical College Board will consist of one manager appointed by the Canterbury Education Board, one manager appointed by the Canterbury University College Council, one manager appointed by the Old Pupils’ Association, three managers elected by the parents, including a woman, one manager appointed by the Christchurch City Council and the Waimairi County Council two managers elected by the associations of employers in local industries, and two managers elected by the associations of employees. The terms of office of each manager will be three years, but everv manager will continue in office until the appointment of a successor. Board, the Christchurch City Council, the Canterbury Universitv College Council, and the Old Pupils’” Association of each school will be made by resolution passed by the body entitled to make the appointment at a meeting held next month, and in March every three years after that. On the same dates, managers to represent the Christchurch City Council and the Waimairi County Council on the board of the Papanui Technical College wiU be appointed by a resolution passed by the councils. . In the case of the Lyttelton and# Riccarton boroughs and the Heathcote. Waimairi, Halswell. and Paparua counties, and the associations of employers and employees in local industries. an electing committee will be constituted from time to time.
