RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL
DECISION BY ITALY (Rec. 7 p.m.) ROME, January 25. Italy had granted de facto recognition to Israel, a Foreign Ministry spokesman announced to-day. The spokesman said that the raising of Italian consular representation in Tel Aviv to diplomatic rank was imminent.
“Commercial negotiations between the two countries are now proceeding in Rome,” he added.
