To-day, six yearlings brought fourfigure prices, the top price of 1750gns being paid by Wright, Stephenson and company, Wanganui, as agents, for a filly oy Foxbridge from the imported mare Anteroom by Fairway. This lot was subfifitted by the Alton Lodge Stud, which is owned by Sir James Fletcher and Mr J. C. Fletcher ® u >’ ers displayed little enthusiasm for the first few lots this morning, but the ♦u tr^ of , a 6 rand colt by Pherozshah from the English-bred mare Jap Rose, restored interest. The bidding for this colt, which is from the same family as the Derby winner Spion Kop, Salmon Trout, which won the St. Leger, and Salmagundi, a marked success at the stud when brought * Zealand, opened at 200gns, and at 1450gns, the Riccarton trainer, C. B Dawson, secured the offering for Mr C. C. Davis, the Christchurch owner. Acting for Mr Davis, Mr Dawson had been the underbidder for the Ruthless—Taupiri filly which was sold to Mr T. C. Lowry for 3600gns on the third day of the sale.

Beau Vite Colt for IOOOGns Beau Vite became the third New Zea-land-bred sire to be represented by a lot bringing a four-figure price when' Mr L. Scott, of Pukekohe, as agent, paid 1000 f ? r a brown colt from Buoyancy, a half-sister to Grand Jury, a Wellington Cup winner, and from the same family as Gold Rod and Langue d’Or. This colt attracted much interest at the parade of yearlings last Sunday, and it was generally expected that he would reach a good price.

Two fillies in to-day’s run from the Alton Lodge Stud reached four-figure prices. A filly by Balloch to Russian Ballet, winner of the Great Northern Champagne Stakes, and eight other races, was bought by Mr G. H. Mutchinson (Wellington) for lOOOgns, and Mr J. B. Charters (Brisbane) went to HOOgns to secure a chestnut filly by Balloch from Lady Nikotine, which was bred and raced in England. Lady Nikotine was got by the Satrap (a son of The Tetrach) from Nitrokis by Mahmoud from Dawn Wind, which was a half-sister to Cleone, the third dam of Beau le Havre. This filly Is also closely related to Tiffin, unbeaten in eight races in England. The other four-figure lot to-day was a filly by Foxbridge, which she closely resembles, from Edile, which was got by Vermeer from Coronis. This filly will go to^,Australia. Mr P. F.
