FORBURY PARK CLUB

TROTTING

TO-DAY’S PROSPECTS

Passive, which has gained a win, two seconds, and two thirds in her eight starts this seasen for W. J. Doyle, who trains her at Leeston, should race well from the 48 yards mark in the Vauxhall Handicap, the opening event at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting today. The winner of the Improvers’ Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club's meeting on December 11, Passive may eventually win her way to good company. By a successful sire in U. Scott, she is out of a winner in Violet Wrack, which took a record of 3min 26sec at the trotting gait.

Most opposition to Passive may come from recent winners in Vinceremo, Rowan McCoy, Sure Peg, and Ingle Star. One of D. Teahen’s team at Pleasant Point, Vinceremo created a good impression at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on December 27, when she won the Mitcham Handicap and finished second to Lady Inchcape in the Winslow Handicap. On the strength of that form, she will probably dispute favouritism with Passive.

Attack, the winner of four races in his last four starts, will probably be sent out a hot favourite for the Dunedin Cup. Other good horses in the field include Good Review, Trustee, and Golden Shadow, and they should be in the picture with Attack at the finish. • Excellent fields of evenly-matched horses are carded, and some thrilling racing should be seen. Horses in form include:— 11 a.m.—Vauxhall Handicap: Passive, Vinceremo, Rowan McCoy.

11.45 a.m—Electric Handicap: Novacord, Daisy Bar, First Lord - Paratrooper bracket. 12.35 p.m. Musselburgh Handicap: Chamfer, Hydro Belle, Islabum Lass. 1.25 p.m.—Dunedin Cup Handicap: Attack, Good Review, Trustee. *2.10 p.m—Otago Handicap: Swanee River, Tatsydale, Morning Wings. 3 p.m.—Southland Handicap: Merrymaker, Landlight, Pierre.
