SCIENTIFIC ATTACHE AT WASHINGTON

MR G. G. TAYLOR RETURNS "The Pre««" Special Service AUCKLAND, December 15. - Scientific attache! at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington for the last year. Mr G. G. Taylor, of Auckland, returned to New Zealand by air from Vancouver yesterday morning. Mr Taylor was seconded to Washington from the Plant Diseases Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research at Mount Albert and will now resume his former work. Mr Taylor said he had worked at the British Commonwealth Scientific Office in Washington where scientists contributed to co-ordination between British Commonwealth countries and the United States. There is a similar office in London. Data on new metnods of plant control, hormone treatment of Weeds and modern developments in the United State-.? in the growing of wheat and maize were sent to New Zealand by Mr Taylor when he was in Washington. Mr J. D. Raeside, officer in charge of the D.S.I.R. at Timaru, has accepted the position of liaison officer in Washington.
