“MISS N.Z.” QUEST

SYSTEM OF REBATES TO SPONSORS <P A.) WELLINGTON. Dec. 15. It was decided yesterday at a meeting of the honorary board of directors of the "Miss New Zealand" quest to institute a system of rebates to all sponsors, similar to one which has applied to “Miss Australia” quests lince their inception. The purpose of the rebates is to encourage all types of organisations to sponsor candidates, at the same time helping their own finances. This applies to branches of the Air Force Association. All sponsors must, of course, pay in the qualifying fee of £lOO for their candidates, but for amounts raised in excess of £lOO. rebates according to the following scale may be applied for: from £lOl to £2OO, 33 1-3 per cent.; from £2Ol to £3OO. 40 per cent.: more than £3OO 50 per cent.

To substantiate claims for rebates, duly audited statements of receipts and expenditure will be required. The total amount raised must be paid in. the rebates being paid subsequently. It was stated that inquiries for entry forms were already being received, and it was likely that many districts not represented in the last quest would have candidates in the 1949 quest. In one such district alone, there was a possibihtv of eight candidates. Because he will be in England for some time next year, the chairman of the board Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, has been elected patron of the quest. Mr A. J. Manson has been elected chairman in his place.
