A QUESTION OF DISTANCE

Sir,—Your correspondent, Chas. T). Matson, in his letter this morning, asks for the “nearly exact distance between the Shag Rock and the shore opposite at dead low water.” This distance is the same as we have always known it, viz., the width of the river, say a couple of chains; but probab:y he means the distance from the Shag Rock to the eroded sandhills — covered at high water (which used to be very little greater). I should estimate this distance to be around 500 yards.—Yours, etc., PISCATOR. December 13, 1948.
