THREE CALLS TO FIRES

Three calls to fires were received in Christchurch yesterday. The central brigade was called to a chimney fire in a block of flats at 286 Madras street. The call was received at 10.41 a.m. At 4.14 p.m. the city brigade and the St. Albans division answered a call to a grass fire in a section, next to 21 Berry street. St. Albans, owned by the St. Mary’s Tennis Club. A small fire in a house occupied by Mary Leech, 29 Canon street, St. Albans, caused slight damage to the interior of the building and was answered at 4.46 o.m. by units from the central and St. Albans brigades.
