CHRISTCHURCH CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING He had heard frequent comments from overseas visitors concerning the state of the Shirley golf course, said Mr L. A. Dougall, who presided over the annual meeting of the Christchurch Golf Club last evening. New Zealand and overseas visitors to the course had paid handsome tributes to the greenkeepers and their work, he said. “You have undoubtedly one of the best golf courses in-New Zealand, and as good as many in America,” said Mr Dougall. If the course were to be kept up to its best traditions then future committees would have to look to finance, although the club’s financial state was now satisfactory, said the retiring club captain (Mr F. S. Taylor). He thought that the time would come when the club would find it necessary to employ a full-time secretary manager. The following officers were elected:— president, Mr R. W. Morgan; vice-presi-dents, Messrs L. A. Dougall, J. Ramsden, and L. Brinkman; club captain, Mr O. A. Y. Johnston; cormnittee, Messrs C. M. Kavanagh. E. J. Pumphrey. C. J. Ward, L. W. Fleetwood, G. R. Hunter, and A. A. Holland; auditor, Mr Denys Hoare. HAGLEY CLUB The best scores in the Christmas party mixed fourball bogey competition, played on the Hagley links for prizes presented by Messrs T. James, E. Sopp, and A. B. Fordyce were:—W. Worsfold and Mrs A. D. Cordner. 6 up*t A. E. Hough and Mrs R. A. P. Francis, 6 up; W. A. Purdie and Miss J. Macdonald, 5 up; L. S. Ayers and Mrs A. L.
