PAPANUI TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
COMMITTEE HEARS . EVIDENCE It is likely that inclusion of the Papanui Technical College under the new Christchurch secondary schools’ board may be reviewed in Parliament within the next few days when the Education Amendment Bill is againdiscussed. Technical education deputations which met the education committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday returned to Christchurch yesterday convinced that they had secured a better appreciation of the position in Christchurch. They claimed that the Papanui college should remain under the separate direction of the Christchurch Technical Colleges Board of Governors. Four representatives of the board, with its two college principals, had a four-hour session with the committee. Also present were representatives of the Technical School Teachers’ Association and the Technical Education Association.
