ROYAL VISIT

Sir,—In reference to “Daughter’s” letter in your issue to-day, might I tell her what Cape Town did. Along the route from the docks into town the Railway Administration erected stands on which were accommodated representatives of different associations, etc. The two lowest rows of seats were, however, reserved exclusively for old people. I suggest that the council might erect a small stand for old people (say in Hagley Park). The material used in Cape Town not wasted as it was perfectly sound and when dismantled was returned to the building trade. YoUr Christchurch "ratepayers’ representatives might move in the matter.—Yours, etc., H. E. DOWNES. October 28, 1948.
