OBSTETRICS CHAIR AT AUCKLAND
APPEAL RAISES £101,231 (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 23. The completion of the Auckland businessmen’s appeal for £lOO,OOO to endow a chair of obstetrics and gynaecology at the new women’s hospital promised for Auckland is announced by the chairman of the executive committee (Mr Percy Shaw) in the executive’s final report. The total collected was £104,594. and the expenses were £3362. leaving a net amount of £101,231.
“This total does not include interest earned by the fund during the appeal, which amounts to more than £4000,” Mr Shaw adds. “This interest was made available to the university authorities to avoid delay in the establishment of the chair.
