POLICE PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. Inspector Charles Harley (Auckland) has been appointed to the position of Superintendent in Charge of the Dunedin police district, and will take up his new duties soon. Other police promotions and appointments announced to-day were:—SubInspector J. Daly (Auckland), promoted to replace Inspector Harley; Senior-Sergeant W. J. Irwin (Invercargill) appointed sub-inspector at Auckland; Sergeant G. A. Howes (Hamilton) promoted to seniorsergeant and transferred to Invercargill; Sergeant L. E. G. Wilson (Napier) promoted to senior-sergeant and transferred in charge of the Ruatoria station; Sergeant C. J. Dwyer (Nelson), promoted to senior-sergeant and transferred to Lower Hutt; DetectiveSergeants J. B. Finlay (Whangarei) and H. A. Hay (Wanganui) promoted to senior detectives and transferred to Auckland. .
