AUCKLAND RIDER’S SUCCESS
TARANAKI COMPETITOR FINISHES FIRST (P.A.) DUNEDIN, September 26. D. Smith, Taranaki (27min) was an easy winner in the OtAgo Centennial and New Zealand 100 miles cycling championship, which was held from Green Island to Balclutha and return on Saturday. Smithes time was 4hr 46min 38sec. J. Cooney, of Auckland, who finished second off the Scratch mark, returned the fastest time, 4hr 18min 18sec, and won the title. Other placings were:—K. R. Sutherland, Christchurch (16min), 3; K. Fish, Auckland (scr), 4; J. Bicknell, Auckland (10 min), 5; V. A. Hills, Auckland (scr), 6.
