MR DEWEY’S TRAIN
POLICE TAKING SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
(Rec. 12.5 a.m.) NEW YORK. September 24. Two rocks, a 10-foot ladder and a gladstone bag were found yesterday on the railway line over which the train of Mr Thomas E. Dewey. Republican candidate for tfije United States Presidency, will pass to-day, says a message from Pasadena, California. The police said that children were probably responsible, but they were taking no chances, and had assigned special railway patrols to the track.
Profit on Australian Cricket Tour.—The Australian cricketers, who have been touring England, sailed for home yesterday. The captain, D. G. "Bradman, said that they had enjoyed every minute of their tour. The Australian manager has estimated that they will have a profit of £A75,000. —London, September 24.
