HOUSES BLOWN UP IN CAIRO
(Rec. 7 p.m.) CAIRO, Sept. 22. According to an Egyptian public security official 14 persons were killed, including 10 Jews, and 47 were injured when an explosion, believed to have been caused by a bomb, destroyed several houses in the Jewish quarter of Cairo.
The Associated Press says that police stopped rioting which occurred after the explosion. Armed Jews are reported to have fired into the crowd which gathered. The Egyptians, incensed by the firing, mobbed the Jews and attacked their shops.
