Stone’s commercial, municipal, and general directory for Canterbury. Nelson. Marlborough, and Westland for —thn 47th publication in its series —is now available for purchase. The has been improved in various ways, states the publishers’ nrefpco. but is stiM| compulsorily curtailed. The names and addresses in the directorv have been compiled, as is the custom of the publishers, by a house-to-house canvass, but the preface requests that if any errors or defects are detected they be reported, so that corrections might be made for the next issue. -
The publishers have included in their preface an interestihg list of what they call, “curiosities of a directory.” These include the incidence of names and the variations of names. It states in one portion, that “There are only two Angels, and 25 Christians, but three Heavens.”
