STUDENTS’ RECITAL
YOUNG SINGERS PERFORM The first students’ recital arranged by the Christchurch Civic Music Council was held in Begg’s Concert Hall last evening. Those taking part in it were pupils of some of the singing teachers of the city. The council is to be commended for giving students an opportunity to perform in front of an audience for such experience is essential to overcome natural nervousness. The music chosen was, in most cases, of a high standard. Mr Harrv Stone. cellist, and Mr Norman Johns, pianist, played a Sonata in D minor by William de Fesch. The singers were Bryony Gray, Maureen O’Neil, Jean Morris, Joan Bradley, Graham Johnson. Jean Craig, Heather Smith. Aileen Gilmour, Elizabeth Sherratt. Philip Isherwood, Mrs Colin Thomas, Catherine Torrance, Cliffoid Pearce. Margaret Pairman, Nola McDowell, Joyce Wormwald, Kenneth Ayo. Joyce Felton. Reta Wootton. and Donald Christie. The accompanists were Miss Alison Edgar. Miss Cicely Audibert. Mrs Will Hutchens. Mrs I. C. Cullman. Mrs J. H. Cocks. Miss Eileen Warren. Miss Dorothy Johnson, Mrs K. Ebert Mr Lindsay Pearce, and Mr Raymond Estall.
