The Auckland Electric Power Board has decided to give £5OO to the appeal for funds to buy Stonehurst Private Hotel, Auckland, as a hostel for university students. The chairman (Mr C. J. Lovegrove) said that if Auckland was to be a university town its citizens must accept the responsibilities which went with it. A house-to-house collection for funds for the hostel is being organised by the Students’ Association of Auckland University College for Saturday. More than 1000 students are expected to take part.
