RESERVE BANK GOVERNOR
APPOINTMENT OF MR E. C. FUSSELL - (P.A:) WELLINGTON. July 22. Mr E. C. Fussell’s appointment as Governor of the Reserve Bank •of New Zealand, in succession to the late Mr W. F. L. Ward, was announced by the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Nash) to-day. “I am extremely pleased that a young New Zealander who has had his complete training in banking in the Dominion and who. has represented New Zealand in the United Kingdom and elsewhere overseas has been appointed to the highest banking position in the country,” said the Minister. Mr Nash said Mr Fussell had been with the bank since its inception, first as secretary, then as assistant to the Governor, and from 1941 as Deputy-Governor.
Mr Fussell was born in Auckland in 1901 and holds the degree of Bachelor of Arts.
