PAYMENTS TO JURORS AND CROWN WITNESSES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. Provision for an increase in the rate of payment for jurors and Crown witnesses from August 16 this year is made in regulations published to-night. Payment to jurors will be increased from 20s a day to 245. Witnesses’ fees will be increased to 24s for a full day and 12s for half a day. The new rate of payment for witnesses giving expert evidence will be 2is for half a day and 42s for a full day. Provision is also made for a boarding allowance for witnesses who are required to be away from their homes overnight and for payment for attendants in cases where witnesses have to be accompanied.
