MATCH AGAINST AUCKLAND ARRANGED TEAMS FOR OTAGO CENTENNIAL TOURNAMENT “I wish to congratulate the members of the Canterbury team on the game they played in the circumstances—circumstances over which they had no control and for which the selectors accept responsibility," said the chairman (Mr L. G. Taylor), referring to the shield match against Wellington, at a meeting last evening of the management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association. “The game was full of surprises and some disappointments.’’ As a result of the defeat it looked as if the Canterbury nominees for the New Zealand team to play Australia would not have any further representative games before the selection of the team, said Mr Taylor, but now a game had been arranged against Auckland, which would give them this opportunity. The match against Auckland will be played at Hagley Park on July 31. It was agreed to accept a request from the Canterbury University Club for a match between Canterbury and a New Zealand University ♦ team on August 26. The club was granted the use of three grounds on Hagley Park for the New Zealand University hockey tournament from August 23 to August 27. The following teams have been selected to represent Canterbury at the centennial tournament in Dunedin from August 2 to August 6 (the team to play Auckland is the same as the A team mentioned below) : A Team.—G.
