British Nationality Bill.—The House of Commons passed by 223 votes to 107 the British Nationality Bill, providing for the establishment of a common citizenship for the people of the United Kingdom and the Colonies. The bill will now go back to the House of Lords for reconsideration. The House of Lords previously altered the word “citizen” in the bill—because of its “republican flavour”—to “subject.” The House of Commons has since rejected the Lords’ amendment.—London. July 20.
