AUSTRALIAN TEAM TO TOJJR N.Z. HIGH STANDARD OF FOOTBALL The Australian representative team will begin a tour of New Zealand early next month, and will plw tests in chpstchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. Last year the South African team, which was unbeaten in New Zealand, found its niatch in Australia, where the standard of the code has been maintained against both European and Asiatic touring sides. Tne Australian team selected is as follows. Goalkeepers K. Hough, aged 20, 6ft 2in, 15 stone; a member of the Drummoyne Club (Sydney). Played first-class football when only 16 years old, and still at school. Has played for New South Wales. A. Gravell, aged 24. sft 101 n. 12st 41b Plays for Box Hill (Melbourne). Leamt the game at the University High School and later played in the Services.

Full-backs C. Drummond (captain), aged 27. JU 7in, 12st 21b. Plays with Metters (Sydney). Played for Australia against South Africa in all tests, and also played with the Australian XI in Adelaide and Melbourne against South Africa. J. Marston aged 22. sft Hin, list 71b. llays with Leichhardt-Annandale (Sydney), leader in the competition. He Partnered Drummond in all tests against South Africa, besides being an inter-dis-trict and intter-State player. A. Duncan, aged 28. sft 9in, lost 101 b, Plays with Eastern Suburbs (Brisbane). Represented Queensland against South Africa and New South Wales. Half-backs Lex Gibb, aged 29. sft 9in, list 31fc. Plays for Corinthians (Brisbane), and represented Australia against India, Palestine, China, and South Africa, ana Queensland against New South Wales and the English Amateurs. He is a son of Alex Gibb, who toured New Zealand as Australian captain. , A. Drennan, aged 23. sft 9in, lOst 101 b. Plays with Sunshine-United (Melbourne) and is a Victorian representative. R. Lawrie (vice -captain)., aged 28, sft Ilin, list 51b. Plays with Sturt Club (Adelaide). Has played first grade football in Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia. Represented Queensland and Australia against Palestine and China and played with Brentford in England while with the R.A.A.F. W. Wilson, aged 25, 6ft, 12st 121 b. Plays with Canterbury-Bankstown (Sydney). Represented Australia against South Africa in three tests and New SouthWales against Queensland and South Africa.

He has represented New South Wales against Queensland and h«s been chosen for inter-district games three times. Managers Mr J. O. Wilshaw (victoria) is a member of the Australian Football Association Council. He has been in Soccer for many years, being manager of the Australian team that toured the Dutch East Indies in 1931. Mr H. Armstrong, (Victoria) is the secretary of the Victorian Football Association, as well as the Australian Council, and has managed both inter-state and schoolboy teams.
