INVERCARGILL WAR MEMORIAL
GRANITE COLONNADE AND WALLS PLANNED
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL. July 19. The form which the Second World War memorial is to take was decided to-day by members of the executive of the war memorial committee. The memorial will be associated with the First World War memorial and will be in the form of two winged walls going out on either side of the present memorial, with a semicircular colonnade 20 feet high behind the memorial to provide a background. The names of fallen servicemen will be inscribed on the walls. The estimated cost is about £5OOO. The architects (Messrs C. V. Barham and A. G. A. Milne) said the memorial would probably have to be made of granite.
