DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS
MANUFACTURERS CALL CONFERENCE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 19. An invitation to attend a conference on August 4 to discuss the transport and distribution of goods within New Zealand has been issued by the council of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation to the Associated Chambers of Commerce, Federated Farmers, the Employers’ Federation, the Retailers’ Federation, the National Council of Women, the Federation of Labour, the Returned Services’ Association, the Home Servicemen’s Association, the Air Force Association, and the Ex-Royal Naval Men’s Association.
The invitation says that, as there are many long-term difficulties to be surmounted before the transport system can be brought back to that peak of efficiency which was desirable, it is felt some good at least must result from an examination of the immediate problem by an impartial crosssection of the community. It is hoped the meeting will be able to arrive at some unanimous or almost unanimous decisions, which may be embodied in representations to the Government and, where necessary and appropriate, to members of the organisations attending the conference.
