UNION MEMBERS OF HARBOUR BOARDS
PRINCIPLE OPPOSED IN WANGANUI
(P.A.) WANGANUI, July 19. Opposition to the principle of proposals now before Parliament for the granting of the Watersiders Workers’ Union representation on harbour boards was expressed at to-day’s meeting of the Wanganui Harbour Board. An intimation was received in a letter from the Harbour Boards Association that the Wanganui board would have one representative. A motion that the letter should be received and that opposition to proposals be expressed was carried, the only dissentients being Mr W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., Mayor of Wanganui, and the Government nominee, Mr W. F. Cummings, who is a member of the Waterside Workers’ Union.
