CAT SKINS

Sir,—“Away With Hypocrisy,” in “The Press” of July 12, brings to the fore a vile and hidden blot on our national life which should have long since been aired. For years the more sensitive among us have shuddered when passing the windows of shops blatantly displaying the skins of innocent domesticated creatures. The horror is intensified when one realises that, these dead, departed creatures have been desecrated and their skins tortured, pressed, and stitched into monstrous and unnatural shapes. Surely it is not too much to expect of our people that they should learn to do Without shoes.—Yours, eta., MOGGY. Jacksons Bay, July 15, 1948.
