REGULATIONS ON ALIENS
STRICTER LAWS IN AMERICA <Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 15. I The United States Immigration Department’s latest regulations, which I ?ome into effect to-day. specify that all aliens in the United States on visitors’ ■ visas will not he allowed to stay in the I country longer than 12 months except in very special circumstances, and i those allowed to stay lor more than 12 I months will be required to post a bond i of at least 560 dollars a head. A high official ->f the status section of the Immigration Department in New York, said; “The new regulations aim at preventing foreigners entering the United States as visitors and becoming virtually permanent residents. From now on it is going to be very difficult for visitors to Stay here more than 12 months, and virtually impossible for them to stay longer than twb years.” Visitors from countries outside the dollar areas will be considerably embarrassed by the regulations, because, even if granted an extension of their visas, thev will have great difficulty in finding the dollars to lodge as a bond.
