OPENING OF FOURTH SERIES (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 15. The fourth series for 1948 of the London wool sales opened to-day with an offering of 32,637 bales, of which 30,765 were sold. New Zealand submitted 15,157 bales and Australia 13,734. After early keen competition, operators ■ were reluctant to bid up. Compared with I the closing prices of the last series, best greasy crossbreds were unchanged, greasy merinos par to 5 per cent, lower, and faulty 10 to 15 per cent, lower. RANGE OF PRICES The Bank of New South Wales advises receipt of the following cabled report on the London wool sales:— “The average or estimated prices of New Zealand greasy fleece, ordinary top-mak-ing wools, are as under:—Merino, 60/64, 47d to 52d; fine halfbred, 56/58, 38d to 45d: halfbred, 50/56, 32d to 36d; threequarterbred, 48/50, 23d to 26d; fine crossbred, 46/48, 21d to 23d; medium crossbred, 44/46, 21d to 23d; crossbred. 40/44, 20d to 21d.” BRADFORD TOPS QUOTATIONS (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 15. Current quotations for Bradford tops are as under:—Merino: 70’s, 126 d per lb; 64’s, 115 d: 60’s. 98d. Crossbreds: 56's, 59d; 50’s, 37d; 46’s, 35d per lb.
