TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
Mrs J. M. Forbes (president) presided at the monthly meeting of the Christchurch North Townswomen’s Guild and books and toys were received for children in hospital. Mrs R. Rimmer was appointed secretary to replace Mrs R. Lake, who is retiring to take over the ediUng of “Townswoman,” the official leaflet of the Dominion Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds, Mrs J. M. Forbes and Mrs R. Rimmer were appointed delegates to the annual council meeting of the Dominion Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds to be held in Wellington in September. Mrs Forbes and Mrs Lake were nominated to the Dominion Executive to be elected at the annual council meeting. Songs were sung by Miss Isobel Riddle and Mrs Thorpe, with Mrs J. Stubberfield as accompanist, and Mrs Gee and Miss Doris Stephens presented an amusing sketch. Thanks were expressed to the artistes and to the hostesses, Mesdames Boyce, Hobday, Pratt, and Large. The winners of the competitions were Mesdames R. C. Smith, Voller, Moore, and Murray Forbes. It was reported that during the month a visit had been paid to the Civic Theatre where Mr F. Allen had explained the workings of the organ and played several solos.
