New Mine Opened.— A new cooperative coal mine in the Ten Mile valley, which incorporates some ern mechanisms, was recently opened. Operated by Hassen and party, the new mine is situated near the Eellyue and Jubilee mines in the valley through which a new road was recently constructed. The opening ceremony was performed by Mr H. Wicks, of Greymouth. The new method of transport is expected to speed up production considerably. 'Tn® bins are of unique construction, as they are carved into the cliff face, which forms the back and two sides, only the front and floor being built of timbers. A new type of bin door has been incorporated in the structure, resulting in quicker and easier manipu* lation.
