COAL MINE STRIKE
NO STATEMENT ABOUT NEGOTIATIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 15. . The miners’ national council to-day met the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) and the Minister of Mines (Mr A. McLagan) in a two-hour discussion on matters in dispute which have inimobilised two State mines on the West Coast. The negotiations, which began yesterday with Mr McLagan, were not productive of any statement. The president of the State Miner* Union (Mr G. E. English) said he would have nothing to say until after a mass meeting of the strikers at Greymouth on Sunday morning. »
