SOUTH CANTERBURY TEAM TO PLAY CANTERBURY A South Canterbury challenge has been accepted by the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association, and the match will be played at the Waitikiri links on August 8. The 16 players, each with a handicap of four or less, in alphabetical order, are: A. N. Campbell, D. J. Chalmers, W. C. Davies, P. H. Davies, P. Durning, J. B. Forrest. R. W. Jones, E. G. Kerr, N. C. Martin, J. L. R. Mackay, D. J. Mcßeath, J. H. Mitchell (Waimate), G. A. Ussher. B. E. Wallace, C. J. Walsh, and I. Wilby. “THE PRESS” MATCH The newsroom staff of ‘The Press” beat the literary and advertising departments in a Stableford golf match played at Avondale yesterday for a trophy presented by Mr J. H. Rhodes. Scores were:— newsroom 199, literary 164, advertising 140. Two golf balls, presented by Slazengers for the best score, were won by R. E. Agassiz (newsroom).
