U.S. STOCKS OF ATOM BOMBS
GREAT INCREASE PREDICTED
NEW YORK, March 17. The United States Atomic Energy Commission’s works at Hanford, the only factory in the world for the manufacture of plutonium, is in the first stage of a huge expansion programme. Unless every indication is deceptive, the rate of growth of America’s stock of atom bombs soon will begin to increase greatly. The commission will spend 350,000,000 dollars on the expansion programme, which is equivalent to the original cost of the Hanford works during the war.
