PROPOSED RELEASE OF MAREO

Sir, —I am writing to enter my most emphatic protest against the proposed release of Mareo. This man was found guilty of murdering his wife by administering poison The evidence was most conclusive and he was condemned to life imprisonment. Now, after he has served 12 years, a weak Government is considering his release. Imagine a murderer being again at large, possibly to do further murdering, after serving a term not much more than an incendiarist or a burglar would get. The law* of capital punishment should never have been reoealed.—Yours, etc. MORE SECURITY i March 18, 1948.
