The annual report said that the mortgage on the grounds, which stood at £3619 2s 7d a year ago, .was discharged, and for the future freedom from the liability of finding £6OO a year for interest and sinking fund would give some elasticity to tne annual', revenue. The committee decided to write off the cost, of the new road from Matipo street, which gives access to the grounds at the northwestern corner. A good- deal of expenditure on ground maintenance was made and more would have been carried out had materials been available. Since the show was held, the embankment round the oval had been added to substantially. Much reinstatement remained to be carried out, particularly of the cattle pavilion and the sheep yards. The committee was anxious to incorporate two selling rings for the ram fairs when the sheep pens are reinstated; but scarcity of material had prevented the work being put in hand.
