CAR STRUCK BY ENGINE
DRIVER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY
When the car he was driving was struck by the engine of a goods train on the Selwyn street railway crossing about 11.45 o’clock last evening, Rex Kevin Whitnail, 97 Harman street, had a lucky escape from serious injury. Mr Whitnall was driving the car along Selwyn street and had almost passed over the crossing when the engine struck the back of the car, which was pushed to one side The train was not travelling at speed arid pulled up soon after the collision. Mr Whitnall was shaken and „had some superficial scratches, but was otherwise unhurt. He was alone in the car.
