ONE-DAY STRIKE PLANNED

Decision of Auckland Carpenters PARADE THROUGH CITY (P.A.) AUCKLAND. March 7. A meeting of-more than 1000 carpenters, which was held in the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday morning, decided to hold a one-day strike tomorrow. Members of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Carpenters’ Union were called on to attend a protest meeting at Myers Park tomorrow afternoon. The press was not admitted to the meeting, but a statement was issued afterwards by the executive. It stated that arrangements were being made for union members to parade in the pity after meeting at the park. The parade would probably be led by the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Band.

A report on the proceedings which had taken place in Wellington with the National Council of the Federation of Labour was given by the national secretary of the union, Mr R. Stanley.

A resolution endorsing the decisions of the national executive of the union to reject the compromise offered by the Minister of Labour (Mr A. McLagan) was carried.
