SMALL SAILING BOAT MISSING
POLICE SEARCH FOR BOY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. A 14-year-old boy is missing after leaving Islington Bay, Rangitoto Island, for Auckland in a Tauranga class sailing-boat at midday to-day. He is Graham Brady, a son of Mr J. R. Brady, of Orakei, Auckland. A police launch was forced by rough seas to abandon a search of the Waitemata harbour to-night. A passenger in a launch noticed a boy in a sailing boat near Brown’s Island shortly after midday. Later members of the crew of a naval launch reported seeing a small yacht beached on Brown’s Island. A police launch went to investigate, but the sea was too rough for a landing to be made. The launch will return to Brown’s Island early to-morrow. . Tauranga class boats are seven feet long.
