MEAT RATIONING PLAN FOR U.S.
(N.Z.P.A.—Reuter— Copyright) WASHINGTON. January 12. Senator Ralph Flanders (Republican, Vermont) said to-day that the bill for a stand-by meat rationing authority which he was drafting would probably provide a ration of 1251 b a person yearly, which was considerably below current consumption. The Department of Agriculture had reported that the average consumption a head in 1947 was 1571 b. Senator Flanders said he was considering proposing a half ration of 62 jib for children and no meat for infants. He hoped to introduce the bill in the Senate on Wednesday.
