PRINCESS CHOOSING FURNITURE
COUNTRY HOUSE AT WINDSOR (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, January 11. Princess Elizabeth has already begun to choose her furniture for Windlesham Moor, her country house near the Royal Lodge, Windsor, which she and her husband will occupy next month. The house is ready for immediate occupation, and it will require very little redecoration. Five years ago, when it was bought by the late Mr Phillip Hill, a wealthy British financier, from Mr William Clarke, an Australian stockbroker, the house cost £40,000. Its gardens are known for their rhododendrons, azaleas, and herbaceous borders. One of the difficulties facing Princess Elizabeth is to obtain the use of her wedding presents. There is no sign of any slackening of public interest m the exhibition of presents at St. James’s Palace, and there is no indication when the Royal wedding presents will be released. Much of the furniture which the Princess will use in her new homes, both at Windlesham Moor and Clarence House, London, is among the wedding presents.
