Header Owners’ Association Formed A decision to form a Waimate District Header-Owners’ Association was made at a meeting attended by 11 owners of header-harvesters recently. Mr N. H. Hayman was elected president. Messrs E. C. Wright, A V. Neal and J. Geaney, with the president and secretary as ex-officio members, were appointed to the executive committee. Mr H. J- L. Bailey was appointed secretary. ~ , . . A scale of charges, the basis of which is the capacity of the machine, was fixed for the 1948 season. The rates are: 12ft headers, £3 per hour; 10ft £2 10s; Bft, £2 ss; 6ft, £2. The rate’s are for cash payment, with a booking fee of 5 per cent. Farmers will be required to supply one dmner and two lunches where necessary. An additional charge will be made for* hill work. Early Stocks of Partridge Peas The first patridge peas have been received by an Ashburton mercantile firm about a month earlier than usual. The peas are in excellent condition, according to a representative of the firm.
