MR HOLLAND’S MESSAGE

Sir,—ln defending Mr . Holland’s message, John Odgers has revealed that he is a bad solicitor. It is true that the slump was world wide and that it started overseas, but it is also true that the start was made by the jockeys of Mr Holland’s liking.—Yours, etc., „ T (Mrs) A. JOHN. Darfield, January 8, 1948. Sir, —John Odgers advises Mr G. E. Wright to forget the world-wide slump which started overseas. We need no telling about the origin of the slump; nor do we need any reminder of the treatment we received at the hands of some of those who are to-day such ardent supporters of Mr Holland’s party. It would seem, judging by the sentiments expressed by some of these individuals, that they would be only too pleased to see another similar slump, with the same opportunities to exploit the under dog as were allowed, or perhaps I should say encouraged, by a previous Government, which, though not flying the same banner as the Opposition to-day, was backed by the same interests which are now supporting it. By all means let us remember the world-wide slump, and those who made it 100 per cent, worse in this country than was ever necessary.— Yours, etc., FAIR PLAY. January 9, 1948.
